“The magic in new beginnings is truly the most powerful of them all.” – Josiyah Martin

I always feel a little bit of sadness every time I finish reading a good book. Satisfied, but a little melancholy that the story is over. Then, cracking open that next book, the joy starts anew. How lucky we are that there are so many books in the world to read that we will never run out of new stories to start!

As an author, there is a little bit of that same sadness when the story I’ve been writing is done. I have to say goodbye to the characters that have been living in my head for a long time and accept that they have found their “happily ever after” and don’t need me anymore. But the excitement of letting those characters go out into the world makes up for that sadness. Not to mention there are at least ten more characters, ten more stories, fighting for my attention. Who am I to disappoint them?

This week, I learned that Book 3 of my Heart’s True Desire series, Unholy (the vampire story I’ve been talking about), will be released on October 20th (just in time for Halloween!). Preorders go on sale ten weeks prior, around August 11th. Which means everything is coming together very quickly!

To celebrate all of this, I’m showing off the cover and giving you a link to read Chapter 1. If you would like to be part of my launch team, email me (kathrynamurra@gmail.com) and I will send you an advance copy of the book. Then, as we get closer to October 20th, I’ll send you a reminder (or two) to prepare and post a review for the book on Amazon, Goodreads, or the platform of your choice.

In addition to the excitement of putting a new story out there in the world, the release of Unholy is special to me because it is the last of the Heart’s True Desire series, for now. It is my most “paranormal” story (I mean, it’s got a blood-sucking vampire in it), and the hero, Thomas, starts off not-so-heroic, which I’ve never really done before. He changes over the course of the story into someone I hope you will fall in love with, but he’s got a lot to do before he can get there. Likewise, the heroine, Beth, has a lot to learn about life and herself before the end of the book. While she starts off with a very black-and-white attitude about love and relationships, right and wrong, she learns that nobody’s perfect, even her, and that imperfection is what makes us human.

So, check out the first chapter and let me know what you think. If you would like to be on my launch team, send me an email. And stay tuned for more about the release of Unholy and the new projects that will be coming your way soon!

Here’s to the start of a new book!
